Two things impressed me about this photo: the contrast between the blazing sun and the blue sky, and the three rings around the sun as seen through the lens of the camera.

This a a picture of the Niagara River and the Grand Island Bridge. It was taken on a recent vacation to Niagara Falls from our hotel room. You can see some reflection from the hotel window because it was taken from inside our room. What I like about it is A.) the panoramic view my camera "stitched" together from 2 separate photos and B.) the light shining through the stormy clouds. Niagara Falls is about 3 miles down river. I took them in Niagara Falls on June 12th at 9:43 in the a.m. We were on the famous "Maid of the Mist" boat tour. In the background is the American Falls. Some sea gulls are also visible. The second picture shows why it is called Maid of the Mist. Everyone who rides on the boat gets a disposable raincoat (more of a big plastic bag) to keep them from getting soaked. If you don't know, there are actually 3 falls at Niagara. Two are on the American side and are called the "American Falls" and the "Bridal Falls." The USA and Canada share common borders with the largest of the 3 falls which is called the "Horseshoe Falls," named so because of it's shape:
